The Cathedral Choir celebrated Palm Sunday in the usual way with Weelkes’  rousing “Hosanna to the Son of David” sung under the Norman arch followed by a plainsong procession through the city centre, past the town hall and into the cathedral through the main west doors.

Services during Holy Week at which the choir sang included:

2nd April – Good Friday Liturgy (Sanders Reproaches, Allegri Miserere)
3rd April –  Easter Vigil and confirmation (Dove Missa Brevis)
4th April –  Easter Day Eucharist (Haydn Little Organ Mass, Now the Green Blade Riseth)

The choir performed Live on BBC1 on Christmas Day 2009 at 10:15am.

On Christmas morning The Glory Of Christmas – Live Service from Chester Cathedral offers a chance to view the cathedral’s Christmas Eucharist which will be a family service for the whole community, featuring the cathedral’s choir and sunday school.
