Palm Sunday Procession

Following Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week, the Cathedral Choir will be singing a number of special services through Holy Week and into Easter.

Good Friday 22nd April 10am

Good Friday Liturgy:
Sanders – Reproaches
Dvorak – Blessed Jesu
Ducasse – Crux Fidelis

Easter Eve 23rd April 8pm

Easter Eve Vigil:
Walton – Missa Brevis
Mawby - Exultet
Ducasse – Crux Fidelis

Easter Day 24th April

10am Eucharist:
Haydn – St Nicholas Mass
Ledger – This joyful Eastertide

Come to the Christmas services; 9 Lessons and Carols on 23rd Dec @6:30pm or 24th Dec @3:30pm, Midnight mass sung by the Nave Choir at 11:15pm on 24th Dec or Christmas Eucharist on 25th December at 10am

The Cathedral Choir celebrated Palm Sunday in the usual way with Weelkes’  rousing “Hosanna to the Son of David” sung under the Norman arch followed by a plainsong procession through the city centre, past the town hall and into the cathedral through the main west doors.

Services during Holy Week at which the choir sang included:

2nd April – Good Friday Liturgy (Sanders Reproaches, Allegri Miserere)
3rd April –  Easter Vigil and confirmation (Dove Missa Brevis)
4th April –  Easter Day Eucharist (Haydn Little Organ Mass, Now the Green Blade Riseth)
